Methodology
Production catalog offers are priced from the supplier's published all-in average rates at 500, 1,000, and 2,000 kWh.
Estimated monthly total
- select the published usage tier nearest to requested usage
- normalize cents/kWh and dollars/kWh to dollars/kWh
- estimated total = requested usage × published average rate
- return the selected tier and rate in the cost ledger
Effective rate is the estimated total divided by usage, reported in cents per kilowatt-hour. Offers are ranked by estimated total, lowest first.
Data source
Residential offers come read-only from the production Symbio HQ catalog. Commercial offers come from WattKarma's live commercial matrix with WattKarma's supplier visibility, margin, and normalization rules. ZIP market resolution uses the production HQ ZIP lookup.
Power.Compare hosts commercial review and SMS verification. WattKarma revalidates an accepted commercial offer and creates the supplier's DocuSeal contract; its opaque offer IDs prevent browser-side rate or supplier changes. Home enrollment, when the customer chooses it, opens WattKarma.com with the selected plan.
